Based in the Charlotte, North Carolina office of Aon Hewitt, Rob is an actuarial consultant who excels at assisting employers with all aspects of retirement program design, implementation, and valuation—from both a defined benefit and defined contribution perspective. He has nearly 15 years of experience in the retirement field. Rob is a frequent speaker and researcher on retirement plans. His papers have been quoted in many media outlets including Bloomberg, US News and World Report, CNN Money, ABC News, and Pensions and Investments. He holds a B.S. Degree in Mathematics from The American University in Washington, DC where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and an M.Ed. Degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Virginia.

Mary is responsible for leadership efforts involving hedge fund and hedge fund-of-fund manager research with a particular emphasis on event-driven and credit-related strategies. Mary has 11 years of experience in providing investment advice on many asset classes including hedge funds. Prior to joining EnnisKnupp in 2000, Mary worked for two years at Lehman Brothers in New York as a member of the STAR (Sales, Trading and Research) analyst program. She supported the emerging market debt currency strategist on the trading desk. Following her time at Lehman Brothers, she spent a year building houses with Habitat for Humanity in North Carolina. Mary holds a B.S. degree with high honors in finance from Indiana University.

Alison leads strategy and product development for Aon Hewitt’s retirement outsourcing business. She uses her expertise and knowledge of the marketplace to develop and implement unique solutions to support our clients’ in their efforts to help their employees achieve retirement success. Alison has co-authored some of Aon Hewitt’s most respected surveys and studies such as Hot Topics in Retirement and Retirement Income Adequacy: The Real Deal, and was recently a key contributor to Hewitt’s study 401(k) Plans in Living Color: A Study of 401(k) Savings Disparities Across Racial and Ethnic Groups, The Ariel/Hewitt Study. In 2008, she was recognized as one of the 25 Women to Watch by Business Insurance. Alison serves as a spokesperson for Aon Hewitt on retirement issues at conferences, with the government, and with the media. She has testified in front of the HELP Subcommittee of the Education and Labor Committee in the House of Representatives, the Department of Labor and its ERISA Advisory Council, and has testified to the Senate Committee on Aging. She is regularly quoted by publications including the Wall Street Journal, Business Insurance, SmartMoney, Pensions & Investments, and Workforce Management, and has been published in Benefits Quarterly. She graduated summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee with a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a minor in French.

Clint Cary is the Chief Investment Officer and Head of US Delegated Investment Solutions at Hewitt EnnisKnupp. Clint is the Chair of the Delegated Portfolio Oversight Committee, a member of the US Hedging Team, and a member of the US Investment Committee, and also serves as a national resource to develop and execute risk management solutions. Clint was previously with Northern Trust Global Investments where he developed and managed the strategy development process for the firm's global investment solutions team, specifically, leading their Liability Driven Investment (LDI) solutions. He also was responsible for developing new business globally while working with internal risk management and portfolio management staff to engineer solutions. Prior to joining Northern Trust Global Investments, Clint founded Capital Strategies Group with a team of four partners where he created and implemented an integrated retirement Plan Financial Management process. Prior to that, he was an actuary and investment consultant at Merrill Lynch and an actuary at Towers Perrin.Clint is a Fellow, Society of Actuaries (FSA). He received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Drake University.

Matthew Clink is the Head of Portfolio Management for the US Delegated Team. He is responsible for the implementation and execution of pension risk management solutions for the firm's delegated clients. Matt also designs investment structures and risk management processes for defined benefit, defined contribution, foundation, and endowment clients. A portion of his time is devoted to developing investment models in the areas of asset allocation and risk management. During his career, Matt has spoken at numerous industry conferences and authored whitepapers on various investment topics. Matt graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama with an MA in Risk Management and a BS in Financial Management. He belongs to the CFA Institute and the Investment Analysts Society of Chicago. Matt rejoined the firm in 2008, after working in the asset management industry as a quantitative analyst. He originally joined the firm in 2000 and previously held the position of U.S. Director of Investment Research.

Jeanna co-leads the firm’s efforts in the areas of fiduciary audits, strategic planning, trustee education and plan governance matters. Prior to joining the firm in 2008, Jeanna served as Managing Director and Operational Review Practice Leader at Independent Fiduciary Services. During her 10-year tenure at IFS, Ms. Cullins worked on more than 30 operational reviews (a.k.a. fiduciary audits), advising the leadership of some of the largest pension funds in the country to develop effective, efficient, practical ways to enhance their operations. She served as Executive Director to the District of Columbia Retirement Board from 1993 to 1997, and as the Board’s General Counsel from 1985 to 1993. Jeanna holds a B.A., cum laude, from Brooklyn College, City University of New York and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. She serves on the emeritus board and is an active member of the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys, served as a trustee on the District of Columbia Tobacco Settlement Trust Fund and the National Association Securities Professionals Board, and is secretary of the NASP Foundation. She is a frequent speaker at pension industry conferences specifically on topics including fiduciary audits, “best practices,” pension fund processes, investment consultant practices, and risk management.

Stephen Cummings is AonHewitt’s President of Hewitt EnnisKnupp, Inc., one of the largest providers of investment consulting services to institutional investors in the U.S. He leads over 200 investment consulting professionals with over 460 clients and continues to serve as the primary consultant for several retainer and project clients. During his time at EnnisKnupp, Stephen completed such client projects as the coordination and implementation of multiple defined benefit and defined contribution plans into a consolidated structure for a multi-billion dollar corporate client. He also frequently speaks before industry groups on a broad range of topics including soft dollars, public fund oversight, portfolio construction, and the evolution of the consulting industry. Stephen joined EnnisKnupp in 1989 as a consultant and later rejoined in 2000 as the president and Chief Executive Office. Prior to rejoining EnnisKnupp, Stephen was the president of Marquette Associates from 1997-2000. He holds a B.S. degree from the University of Texas and an M.B.A. degree from the University of Chicago. Tim is a partner within our Global Investment Practice.  He divides his time between our London and Leeds offices, and advises some of our largest and most complex clients.  Tim also leads our policy and research in the area of Sustainable Investment and Corporate Governance.  Recent developments in this area include the Practice signing up to the UN Principles of Responsible Investment, the launch of a unique ESG risk analysis tool for equity portfolios, a global survey of responsible ownership activity and the integration of sustainability issues into our mainstream equity manager research process. Thomas Deinet was appointed Executive Director of the Hedge Fund Standards Board (HFSB) In September 2008. Before joining the HFSB, he was a senior manager at Oliver Wyman, the management consulting firm, where he has worked in depth with major financial institutions in Europe in both asset management as well as corporate and investment banking engagements. In 2007, Thomas was the project manager in charge of orchestrating the development of the best practice standards proposed by a group of 14 leading hedge fund managers and the establishment of the Hedge Fund Standards Board. Thomas joined Oliver Wyman in 2002 after working as an analyst in energy trading for a major commodities trading firm. He graduated from University of Karlsruhe, Germany and holds a Masters degree from Purdue University, USA. Thomas Deinet is a CFA charterholder.

Peter Hill, global head of Aon Hewitt's research into liquid alternatives, serves as a senior member of the manager research team and sits on the firm's US Investment Committee. He has no specific client relationship responsibilities but spends a considerable amount of time with the firm’s clients in a specialist supporting role. Peter has over thirty years of experience in the portfolio management and pensions industry and joined Aon Hewitt in 2006. He spent 19 years at Insight Investment (formerly Clerical Medical Investment Management). His last position there was as Head of International Equities. In this role Peter was responsible for a team of 12 portfolio managers, running assets in excess of £3 billion invested across a range of global equity markets. After graduating with a degree in mathematics and statistics from Reading University, Peter spent eight years at Norwich Union Insurance Group and was responsible for marketing their pooled pension fund product to pension plan trustees. He also attended the London Business School Investment (Derivatives) program and attained the CII/Personal Finance Society's Advanced Financial Planning Certificate.

Ari is a senior retirement consultant in our Norwalk, Connecticut office focusing on client strategies and solutions that help manage corporate pension plan risks. He brings a unique view through the combination of capital markets experience and liability management expertise offering our clients the full spectrum of solutions to take control of their unique retirement risks. Working with both our pension actuarial consultants and our investment consultants, he develops strategic and dynamic asset allocation solutions, implements tactical strategies, and monitors the success of these strategies against both traditional and nontraditional benchmarks. After having been with Hewitt for 15 years, Ari rejoined in 2009 after spending the prior 2 years in Citigroup's Global Banking group as the Head of the Retirement Benefits Advisory Group. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Economics from Tufts University.

Zoltan joined AonHewitt’s Investment Policy Structure team as an investment consultant, in 2011. The team is responsible for providing strategic investment advice on broad investment policy for pensions, foundations and endowments. Prior to joining AonHewitt, Zoltan worked at Harris Private Bank (2006-2011) as a Portfolio Strategist, developing capital market assumptions, strategic asset allocation and manager selection for the private bank. Prior to Harris Private Bank, Zoltan was employed by Northern Trust Company (1994-2006) in various roles servicing institutional clients which included structuring manager of managers programs, pension investment management outsourcing, asset allocation, risk and performance analysis, client servicing and transition management. Zoltan earned his bachelor’s degree, in accounting, from Purdue University Calumet and then received his M.B.A., in finance, from DePaul University.

David has over 12 years of experience working with pension and retiree medical plans, specializing for most of that time as a senior consultant leading ALM investment strategy and risk management advice. Prior to joining Hewitt EnnisKnupp, he worked with Mercer for 10 years where he was a senior member of the Financial Strategy Group. Over the course of his career, David’s clients have included large plan sponsors in financial services, energy, retail, pharmaceuticals, defense, automotive, manufacturing, and healthcare industries, as well as public plan sponsors. David has spoken at professional conferences on topics of asset-liability risk management and frozen plan strategies. He also had a lead role in intellectual capital for Mercer in this area. David has a BSc. in Financial and Actuarial Mathematics from Dublin City University. Phil also serves as an actuarial expert for Hewitt EnnisKnupp. Phil has authored several research reports regarding pension risk management, and has spoken at numerous industry conferences. Joe leads Aon Hewitt’s Global Risk Services group for North America. In this role he leads Aon Hewitt’s efforts in the emerging area of risk management and asset-liability management as it applies to retirement programs. In this capacity he works with clients on developing and implementing strategies related to the design, financing and investments of their retirement programs. Joe has spoken at numerous industry conferences sponsored by organizations such as Pensions & Investments, National Association of Corporate Treasurers, UBS, and the International Society of Employee Benefits Specialist (ISCEBS), as well as number of Aon Hewitt sponsored conferences and webcasts on pension risk issues. Joe earned a BA degree in mathematics from Washington College in Chestertown Maryland. He has been with Aon Hewitt since 1998.

Catherine serves as the leader of the firm’s global real estate research group. Catherine has a unique blend of public and private, domestic and global commercial real estate experience that spans 19 years. Prior to joining EnnisKnupp in 2009, Catherine was the Director of Research for real estate at Fidelity Investments. Previously she served as the Vice President and Director of Strategic Consulting at Torto Wheaton Research. Other work experience includes private real estate development and investment management in both the U.S. and Southeast Asia, and as a teacher and co-coordinator of mathematics at the Chinese International School in Hong Kong. Catherine earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Brown University and a Master of Science degree in Real Estate Development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is currently the president-elect of National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries (NCREIF), as well as a past chair of NCREIF’s Research Committee, and is a member of the Pension Real Estate Association's (PREA) Infinity Research Group. In 2010, Catherine received the Hoyt Fellow in recognition of outstanding accomplishments in professional real estate.

Rob is an actuary who consults on all aspects of retirement design. He leads Aon Hewitt’s national Retirement Strategy and Design Team, working with organizations to develop pension, defined contribution, retiree health, and phased retirement programs. His consulting work includes HR and retirement strategy; implementation of new or revised plans including design, administration, communication, and financing; and ongoing management and evaluation of plans. He leads the firm’s research on retirement income adequacy, and is particularly familiar with creative plan design alternatives and behavioral finance issues as they relate to defined contribution plans.  Rob has spoken at numerous industry conferences sponsored by organizations such as Pensions & Investments, CFA Society, American Bar Association, the International Society of Employee Benefits Specialists (ISCEBS), along with many Aon Hewitt sponsored conferences. He has 25 years of experience, with a B.S. degree in mathematics from Wheaton College in Illinois, and an M.S. degree in actuarial science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Colin Robertson is Global Head of Asset Allocation at Aon Hewitt and heads up the Global Asset Allocation Team based in the UK, US and Ireland. The team provides a Medium Term Views service which seeks to add to investment performance through taking medium term asset allocation views and advises on the timing of strategic change. The team is additionally involved with the long term investment assumptions used in investment and actuarial modeling and Colin chairs the Capital Market Assumptions Committee. Colin has been Head of Asset Allocation at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, Head of Strategy at Threadneedle Investments and Chief Investment Manager at a Life Office. He has a BSc (1st Class Honours) from the University of St Andrews and a Masters from UC Berkeley where he was a Fulbright Scholar. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries.

Karen, partner, serves as the leader of the firm’s global private equity group and has experienced the private equity market from a variety of senior positions, including sourcing, underwriting, and portfolio management. Prior to joining Hewitt EnnisKnupp in 2010, Karen was the Senior Managing Director, Funds for GE Capital where she led its global fund investment activities. She joined GE in 1991 (via the acquisition of Heller Financial). Karen started her career with GE’s Sponsor Finance Group where she spent over 11 years, working in Capital Markets, Sourcing, Underwriting and Portfolio Management of senior and mezzanine leveraged loans to the private equity community. In 2000, she moved to GE Capital (Equity group) and began underwriting and managing fund and direct equity investments. Before beginning her long tenure at GE Capital, she spent two years at Ernst & Young. Karen holds a Masters of Business Administration in Finance and Marketing from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting from Indiana University.

Prior to joining EnnisKnupp in 2008, David served as an associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP and a senior financial analyst at Walton Street Capital. He earned a B.S. degree, in finance and accounting from The Ohio State University.

Shane is a senior member of the firm’s investment policy services group. Areas of responsibility include total equity analysis, currency, and inflation. Shane has served as an adjunct professor teaching global investment-related courses at Chicago-based Illinois Institute of Technology. Prior to joining Hewitt EnnisKnupp, Shane served as senior investment analyst with Rotary International where he monitored its investment program. He also worked for Central States Pension and Health & Welfare Funds and performed a wide range of financial/investment related duties. Shane holds a B.S. degree in finance from Illinois State University and an M.S. degree in finance from DePaul University.

Mike co-heads the firm’s Investment Policy Services group. Additionally, he serves as a primary consultant for a select number of EnnisKnupp retainer and project clients. Mike has co-authored a number of research articles published in the Journal of Portfolio Management, the Journal of Private Equity and the Journal of Investing, two of which received a Bernstein Fabozzi/Jacobs Levy award for outstanding research. He has spoken before industry groups on topics such as risk budgeting and performance benchmarking. Mike has served as an adjunct faculty member at Northwestern University, and is a member of the board of directors of the Midwest Finance Association. Prior to joining EnnisKnupp in 1997, he was head teaching assistant for core finance for the Department of Finance at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Mike holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Jamey Sharpe has over 20 years’ experience in the employee benefits service area. Prior to joining NEBA in 1991, he spent six years with William Mercer and Watson Wyatt as a pension actuary. Upon joining NEBA, he coordinated actuarial services for the participating plans and became responsible for investment activities in 1995. He currently is director for over $7.0 billion in retirement assets. Mr. Sharpe has an undergraduate degree in accounting from Michigan State University, has studied actuarial science at the University of Texas, and obtained a Masters in Finance and Financial Markets from Illinois Institute of Technology, is a CAIA member, and an ASA candidate.

Steve assists plan sponsors with de-risking strategies and asset distribution. He manages the Institutional Income Products and Life Insurance Solutions group for Hewitt Ennis Knupp. In his role, he is primarily responsible for annuity placements resulting from terminating Defined Benefit plans, lifetime income consultancy for Defined Contribution arrangements, liability de-risking solutions and insurance company creditworthiness analysis. He recently joined the firm from Hartford Financial Services where he developed, implemented and managed Hartford’s pension risk management businesses. Specifically he helped sponsors manage, mitigate and/or transfer the risks and liabilities arising from their defined benefit pension plans. Steve has amassed over 23 years of sales/sales management, marketing, operations, and administrative experience in the pension business. Before joining The Hartford, he spent 17 years at Citigroup/Travelers Life & Annuity in their Asset Management and Pension Division. Additionally he ran the institutional payout annuity P/L for both Hartford Life and Travelers Life respectively. Steve earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT and his Master of Science degree in Financial Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Kevin serves as a primary consultant and has led the firm’s U.S. equity manager research area along with the defined contribution (DC) team over the past 8 years and currently leads the DC research efforts. Before joining EnnisKnupp in 1996, Kevin spent four years in the corporate finance group of the $9 billion Westcoast Energy group of companies and has previously served in the Canadian Navy (reserve) and Presbyterian World Service. Kevin holds a B.Comm. degree in finance from the Odette Business School at the University of Windsor and is a CFA charterholder. He is a member of the CFA Society of Chicago where served over the past decade in many capacities including President and Treasurer. Kevin remains active on CFA Institute committees while serving many years as a grader for the Chartered Financial Analyst examination. Kevin has served as an adjunct faculty member at DePaul and Northwestern University while serving on industry organizations such as the PSCA/401(K) Council’s Legal and Legislative Committee, Executive Committee member of the Defined Contribution Institutional Investment Association and an active member of the Executive Club of Chicago. Bryan leads the Lincolnshire, Illinois office of Hewitt EnnisKnupp, Inc. Bryan serves as a member of Hewitt EnnisKnupp’s Global Pension Risk Team and has over 18 years of investment experience. Prior to joining the firm in 2005, Bryan worked in a variety of risk management and client service positions across the banking, insurance and consulting industries. He has an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BSC in Finance from DePaul University. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Chicago.

Nancy, partner, co-leads the fiduciary services practice area. Her assignments involve work with both public and private sector clients in the areas of fiduciary audits, operational review, strategic planning, trustee education, policy development, and plan governance matters. Prior to joining EnnisKnupp in 2005, Nancy was the National Governance and Policy Unit Leader at Mercer Investment Consulting, and prior to that, the National Public Sector Practice Leader at Mercer Human Resource Consulting. In addition to her experience at Mercer, Nancy served as the Deputy Director and General Counsel of the Colorado Public Employees’ Retirement Association. Before that she was General Counsel at the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio. Early in her career she was also a trustee on several public retirement boards. Nancy holds a B.S. degree in business administration from Ohio State University and a J.D. degree from Capital University Law School, where she was an editor of the Law Review. Armand, associate partner, is a member of the investment policy services group and is also the manager of financial modeling for the firm. Prior to joining Hewitt EnnisKnupp in 2004, Armand was an actuarial consultant for Mercer Human Resource Consulting. He was also an actuarial associate for the Social Security System in the Philippines. Armand holds a B.S. degree in applied math from the University of the Philippines, and M.S. degree in statistics from Northwestern University, and an M.S. degree from the University of Illinois in actuarial science. He is also a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries in addition to being an Enrolled Actuary with the Joint Board of the Enrollment of Actuaries.

Shari focuses on private equity investment research and investment consulting. Her sub-specialty is venture capital and growth equity funds. Prior to joining Hewitt EnnisKnupp in 2007, Shari focused on growth stage venture capital investing at Chicago Venture Partners and Sterling Venture Partners. Previously, Shari was an investment banking analyst for ThinkEquity Partners and senior analyst at First Annapolis Consulting, a boutique strategic consulting and mergers and acquisitions advisory firm focused on financial services. Shari holds a B.B.A. degree with distinction from Emory University Goizueta Business School and an M.B.A. degree from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Shari is a member of the private equity working group advising the investment committee for the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago. She is also a member of the Chicago Women in Private Equity Group. Shari has authored "Turning Green into Green: Social Past, Financial Future," published in the Journal of Environmental Investing (December 2010). Shari has also authored "A Core-Satellite Approach to Managing Private Equity Programs" (Aon Hewitt, March 2011).
